FAQs

General Questions:
  • Why choose SZEMPTY USB rechargeable battery?

SZEMPTY was founded in 2017 and has always specialized in developing and selling USB rechargeable batteries. There have been 12 iterations of the product and millions of batteries have been sold worldwide. Please choose us because we are professional.

  • What is the difference between a USB rechargeable battery and a regular rechargeable battery?

Compared to traditional NiMH batteries
SZEMPTY lithium-ion batteries are fast charging, requiring only 2-3 hours to be fully charged at a constant voltage of 1.5 V. They are compatible with 99% of the devices on the market. Traditional NiMH batteries are very slow to charge, usually taking 8 hours. The voltage is only 1.2 V. It is difficult to meet the high power usage applications.

Compared with ordinary lithium batteries
SZEMPTY USB rechargeable battery comes with USB charging port, no need for special battery charger, more portable and more reasonable price.

  • Do SZEMPTY batteries leak?

No. Lithium ion batteries have a very stable chemistry that will not leak like traditional alkaline or NiMh rechargeable batteries.

  • How safe are SZEMPTY batteries?

Among other certifications, we are certified to IEC 62133:2012, the most important and relevant safety certification for Lithium Ion batteries. This standard specifies requirements and tests for the safe operation of portable sealed secondary cells and batteries (other than button) containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolyte, under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse.

  • Why should I consider SZEMPTY when I can just buy cheap alkaline batteries in bulk?

Every battery you buy needs to be produced, shipped, stored, sold and disposed of. We believe this is a huge waste of the world's resources and creates unnecessary waste and carbon footprint. By using one SZEMPTY, you can displace the need for 1200 batteries. This will save a lot of resources, and will also save you a lot of money over time.

  • Can the batteries be recycled?
Yes. Please ask your recycling center where to put these. They may not want them mixed in with the other dry cells.
When Charging:
  • Do I need a special charger?

No need! There is a USB-C port right on the SZEMPTY battery. We provide a 4 in 1 USB-C cable so you can charge 4 batteries at once.

  • How long do they take to charge?

Charging time is surprisingly fast, but will depend on the USB power you are using. Typically the battery fill time is roughly as follows:

AA:2-3H ;AAA:1-2H;D:4-6H;C:2-3H; 9V: 1-2H; CR123A:1.5-2H

  • What kind of charger should I use?

Each SZEMPTY battery charges at 0.5A. If you are using our 4:1 cable to charge 4 batteries at once, the USB power supply should be rated for 2A output to optimize charging time (the power supply itself will be labeled).

Most newer smartphone and tablet power supplies support 2A charging, but some older power supplies or computer USB ports may only support 1A or 0.5A output. SZEMPTY batteries can still be charged with lower output power supplies, but it will take longer.

  • How many times can they be recharged?

Thanks to the advanced Lithium Ion technology, your batteries will last over 1200 charges.

  • Can I use my SZEMPTY batteries while recharging them?

For safety reasons, SZEMPTY batteries do not support charging while in use. We cannot predict all usage situations and the problems that may arise during those usage situations, and therefore we cannot ensure the safety or reliability of our products while charging while in use.

  • How do I know when they are charged?

Except for 9V batteries, other models are green light blinking while charging and green light always on when full.

9V battery: red light in charging, green light when full.

  • Why do batteries get hot when charging?

Batteries heat up during the charging process due to the conversion of electrical energy into heat through internal reactions. Factors such as internal impedance, charging rate, and battery type (especially lithium-ion batteries) can all contribute to heat generation.SZEMPTY batteries can reach a maximum temperature of 65°C at the positive electrode during charging because of the fast charging rate. Please do not touch the positive terminal of the battery during charging to avoid burns.

When Using:
  • How does the capacity compare to typical alkaline batteries?

This is a technically complex issue to answer comprehensively, but let’s look at it through the lens of power output. For any application where power matters (such as a headlamp where brightness matters or a remote control toy where power/speed matters), lithium ion chemistry is superior.

Our AA batteries are available in three capacities: 3400mWh, 3000mWh, and 2600mWh. If you look at the capacity of the batteries, 3000mWh is roughly the same as a normal dry cell battery.

  • How long will Paleblue batteries last?

When measuring useful capability, we can look at the time for the battery performance to degrade to half of its starting power. The discharge time to get down to 50% of starting power is about the same for SZEMPTY and Alkalines. So, in this respect, we are competitive with what you expect from Alkalines.

  • Can I bring these on an airplane?

You should have no problem putting it in your carry-on luggage. Because all our batteries have less than 20Wh. But we can't speak for every airline's policy, so please check.

  • Can I use SZEMPTY batteries to charge my other devices, such as my phone?

Sorry, you can not. The TYPEC port on SZEMPTY batteries is for charging the batteries on

  • If the batteries are punctured, is there a risk of explosion?

The batteries are tested (and have passed) IEC62133-2:2017 This is the international safety standard for all lithium batteries. It includes very extensive safety testing, a crush test and flame test. SZEMPTY batteries are designed to pass all these tests safely with the external metal casing, which is stronger than many typical Lithium battery designs. No Lithium battery should ever be punctured with a metal object, such as a nail, this is the same for a mobile phone battery or power bank, or even a Tesla EV.

  • Can I use your 9V in my smoke or carbon monoxide detector?

Most smoke detector and carbon dioxide detector manufacturers recommend against using rechargeable or rechargeable lithium batteries in their products. Be sure to carefully review your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector instruction manual and the manufacturer's recommendations before selecting the correct battery. If in doubt, do not use rechargeable or rechargeable lithium batteries in your detector.

  • Will SZEMPTY batteries work in my device?

In general the SZEMPTY USB lithium rechargeable battery is compatible with most devices on the market. Be sure to check owners manual for your device to see if it recommends using lithium batteries.

  • Do I need to recharge the battery if it's fully charged and not in use for a while?

It is advisable to recharge the battery every 6 months if it has been fully charged and remains unused for an extended period. This helps maintain its health and prevents performance degradation.

Precautions for use:
  • Lithium batteries should not be used in high-current devices such as flash units. If used, the batteries may overheat, the outer skin may peel off, and the batteries will not function properly.
